The Contract 20 / ( 39 )
Argh. So. This middle image is based upon a photo that i found in a tumblr blog. It had different walls and a different format, different angle, but that middle wall and the weird sticks at the wall were the same. I liked the rhythm and the blueish greenish light and recreated that last minute.
The bottom row would work better as a single image, I think, but I did not want to leave my readers wit yet another scenery page.
Some things changed while drawing:
First it took me a while to realize, that the entering goons saw the disembowled guard guy. In the script they complain about Henry taking too long. This makes much more sense now and also confirms Gabriel s fear, that Henry is indeed dangerous and therefore feared by his subordinates.
Also - first I had planned Gab to have a secret entrance to the FBI headquarter in their cellar, but thats way too powerful, for her to also have secret ways all over the city. She does use the sewers but there are no secret doors into buildings. I changed the script to her and barbera carrying Schroedinger to a gully in front of the FBI - that would have lead to way more panels carrying that poor woman around, though. Also more exterior that we ve already seen. So I put the gully inside of the FBI. GENIUS. makes perfect sense. That elevator ties everything together and no questions asked about carrying around a blood covered unconscious woman. Well, in Mavergate people mind their own business so the two might have gotten away with that.
