The first version of the script did not include a lot of Bob. While he always had this function of being a sliver of Gabriel s good side, i didnt do the whole show not tell thing. Overkill doesnt make sense for Gabriels mission and the stuff she yells or thinks here... transforms from what she thinks of the others to descriptions of what she is actually doing... deceiving herself, relishing in violence or using violence for her own gratification. Whele there is a massive element of revenge to her motivations and i think she would go completely havoc on her grandfather in any mental state (well, ok, not being knocked out by depression) - she would not be a violent person. But she is now. and the lady full well knew this would happen when she signed her up for spending some time with Barbera and the gang. But there is this side of her, that keeps fighting to resurface - maybe her psychosis is too strong. In reality, mentally ill people very, very rarely are this violent. I am wondering about this... its the hollywood kind of mental illness - so maybe i am deluding myself in claiming that this character isnt violent.
Went off on a tangent here. So. Bob is the manifestation of her conscience and in the earlier script i used him more as a plot device whenever gabriel needed to be vulnerabe. This is chapter would have been over with the last page.
